Rue St Jacques is one of the oldest street of Paris, used as a main road for trade, from Rome to Paris, when the first roman came to settle down to the city of Lutetia (antique name of Paris). You will be next to the Luxembourg Garden (perfect for family with children – many activities) and Place St Michel by the Quai well known for its large variety of shops. Bakeries, butchers, supermarkets and open-air vegetables are all walking distance. This is the street as well of the Grandes Ecoles, like the Ecole Nationale des Ponts Chaussées, the student area. The neighborhood is very stylish and gentrified. Overall, this area is very safe, even late at night, and also practical with doctors and drug stores. Medium length walks, the bus or metro easily take you to the Louvre, Musée D’Orsay, the Marais, the Champs Elysée and Eiffel Tower.
Once you enter the apartment, you will find a very practical hall which connects all the rooms of the house, and is equipped with a large wall closet with the apartment linens, iron and ironing board, and has a side reserved for the guest to hang their cloths.
The front entrance door takes you directly to the main room of the house, the comfortable living/dining/kitchen area. This 33 square meter room has two windows facing a calm light courtyard, insuring natural sunlight throughout the day and protection from street noise. The room is perfect for entertaining and relaxing, cooking and having a glass of wine, all is at your fingertips and accessible from the open kitchen featuring all modern conveniences: 4 vitro ceramic burners, extractor hood, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, oven, microwave oven, toaster, coffee makers, water boiler, food processor, built-in shelves and cupboards, and all the dishes and kitchen utensils necessary for the gourmet cook.
The kitchen area opens up directly on to an antique table that seats 4 to 6 people. The kitchen and dining area open directly onto the living area, a large space with a sofa, comfortable antique arm-chairs, end tables, chest, mirrors, stereo, book cases and decorative pieces, oriental rugs, the all making for a very comfortable Parisian bourgeois atmosphere. The floor, like all the apartment, is hard-wood.
The main bedroom has a trundle couch-bed that sleeps two; the bed can be used either as two single beds, or the lower bed raises up to the level of the upper bed to make a double bed. In addition to the couch-bed, the room is furnished with a desk and chair, sealed 19th century wardrobe closet (mainly for decoration), table, mirror, lamp, vase, other decorative wall-hangings, television and DVD player. The room has one window that faces the light calm courtyard and has a light hard-wood floor with a small oriental rug.
it is contiguous to the hallway and the living room.
The second bedroom is at the back of the apartment, with one window facing the same calm light courtyard as the rest. It is furnished with a double bed, chest of drawers, a sealed 19th century wardrobe closet (decorative), a night table and lamp, chairs, decorative objects and has wall-to-wall carpeting, an overall tastefully decorated room permitting a calm night’s sleep in a classic Parisian décor.
The bathroom is tiled in white and blue, has a large bathtub with shower head, a wash basin, and towel racks. It is contiguous to the hallway.
